Advertising

Radio stations work with different companies to advertise and promote them. Companies pay money to the Radio stations in order for them to mention certain products, events or promotions that those companies own or work with. Between songs or rapports radio stations will play few adds. Advertising is one of the main source of the radio’s revenue.

Events

Some radio stations host special events or concerts to promote their company. By doing those events the Radio companies attract new people to listen to their stations and also make money from selling the tickets. They also work with some artist that promote them in concerts.

Charging callers

Most radio stations make a contest and encourage their listeners to call or to text in order to get a chance of winning a prize. Every time someone participates they are charged with a small fee, and one by one eventually amounts to a decent amount of money that the radio station collects.

Selling content

Many news related radio stations have exclusive sources for to get new content. Some of those stations sell exclusive news to other TV or Radio stations across the country and make a profit from it.
